For a few years I would hear a song and want to make a cool IG story for it, to improve my video editing skills and also just to track my aesthetic and musical taste over time. This was a cathartic activity that I plan on doing again.

There were a few golden years I was very into this kind of modern wigger/ soundcloud/ kawaii/ post yung lean 2001 vibe. Then zoomers snatched the easiest pieces they could off the shelf (baggy pants, over accessorizing, nightcore, neo goth/ emo style, etc) and unceremoniously dropped it into the mainstream. If the first year you saw a BB Simon belt was after 2020, I demand compensation.

Most of these are just Soundcloud rap songs that were ahead of their time and stuck in my head, but there are some traces of ambient. The artists How to Dress Well and Croatian Armor curated a lot of music that I find interesting now. When I decide to make more videos, I will have a backlog of weirdly indulgent esoteric music to work with.
